The openness of Android has enabled it to open doors to many developers allowing businesses to reach a large customer base as well as supporting many custom third party applications for a breadth of purposes. This has enabled Android to become one of world’s most popular mobile operating systems. However, this openness tends to increase security threats to users as well as devices. The seminar will focus on the Android architecture with emphasis on security and effects of human behavior on the current security model. There will also be discourse on how malicious developers can access a device and violate privacy as well as the effectiveness of the Android security model in combating such threats.
